The Cleveland Guardians have acquired right-hander Yohan Ramirez from the Seattle Mariners for cash or a player to be named.

Ramirez, 27, made seven appearances for the Mariners this season and was immediately optioned to Triple-A Columbus.

A number of Major League executives expect the Boston Red Sox to trade Xander Bogaerts prior to this year's trade deadline, according to a poll by Mark Feinsand.

Bogaerts can opt out of his contract -- a six-year, $120 million deal that runs through 2025 and includes a 2026 vesting option -- this offseason. 

The Red Sox discussed a long-term deal with the shortstop before Opening Day, but the two sides were reportedly more than $100 million apart in negotiations.

Willie Calhoun has requested a trade after the Texas Rangers optioned him to Triple-A Sunday as part of the club's efforts to pare down to 26 players.

"(I'm) gonna go to Triple A and put myself in a position to get traded. I do want to be traded," Calhoun said. "I do want to be traded. I don't know if '’ll play another game in a Rangers uniform. And I let them know that."

Calhoun is hitting .136/.283/.273 over 53 plate appearances this season.
